I should do this more regular-like! I hardly know where to start…

As I type away I’m dreamily anticipating the pleasures of the First Comes Love Bridal Fair this weekend. FCL is Perth’s first alternative bridal event providing a platform for a carefully curated handful of Perth’s best at putting together pretty and interesting things and it’s run by the loveliest ladies of them all, Ang and Leah from Studio Bomba in Leederville. Believe me they know their stuff! These canny lasses even hired out the Oxford Hotel for the weekend so if you’re a little overwhelmed by wedding fever you can fortify yourself with a stiff drink down stairs. Come and pay me a visit there if you’re getting hitched sometime in the future, know a bride or groom to be with the wedding bug, or if you just have a penchant for lovely local things! If you spring me scoffing a cupcake or two, it’s all part of the job…

In other news I am currently creating for two shows which open Friday 8 June at Gallery Central; ‘Wearable Narratives‘ and ‘On and Off the Bench‘. Wearable Narratives is a JMGA group exhibition which promises to be an interesting peak into the state of West Australian contemporary jewellery; it’s an open show and has a few prizes on the table. I have made 6 new pieces for the exhibit which feature everlastings in lace-cut titanium and embossed sterling silver. Bill Shaylor, my friend and photographer, is coming to take shots of these pieces for me this week which I hope to load onto the website after the opening. On and Off the Bench showcases the Central Institute of Technology lecturers and focuses a little more on describing the whole making process. In case you didn’t know I teach there a couple of days a week now, so I will have also have presence in this show.

If you can’t make the openings, the details of which I will definitely be posting in the near future, you can always pop in and see the work some other time; both shows run for about 3 weeks but do check opening times with the gallery.
